Congresswoman Julia Brownley, who has been serving California’s 26th district since 2013, shared her views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Brownley, born in Aiken, South Carolina in 1952 and currently residing in Westlake Village, has a background in political science with degrees from George Washington University and American University.

On May 8, 2025, Congresswoman Brownley expressed concerns over the financial burdens faced by Americans. She highlighted that “Groceries are too expensive, housing costs are too high, child care costs are a fortune, retirement savings are shrinking, and our economy is reeling from President Trump’s reckless tariffs.” She criticized House Republicans for focusing on renaming initiatives rather than addressing these economic challenges.

Later the same day, Brownley addressed environmental issues. She tweeted about Republican policies affecting public lands and natural resources. She stated that “Republicans have launched one of the most egregious attacks on our public lands, our waters, and our health that we have ever witnessed.” Her tweet emphasized the transfer of national parks and forests to oil and gas corporations.

On May 9, 2025, Congresswoman Brownley took the opportunity to recognize National Nurses Week. She acknowledged the dedication of nurses across Ventura County and beyond. In her words: “Nurses provide skilled, compassionate care to people of all ages.” She praised their role as “the cornerstone” of healthcare services.

Julia Brownley’s career includes serving in the California State Assembly before joining Congress. Her focus remains on economic stability and environmental protection while honoring essential workers like nurses.
