Congresswoman Julia Brownley, representing California’s 26th district since 2013, has been actively voicing her concerns and positions on various issues through social media. In a series of recent tweets, she addressed mental health awareness, potential constitutional violations involving former President Donald Trump, and the commemoration of fallen police officers.

On May 12, 2025, Congresswoman Brownley highlighted the prevalence of mental health challenges in the United States. She stated “In the United States, 1 in 5 adults experience mental health challenges. That’s why we must recommit to ending the stigma and raising awareness about the resources available to those who are struggling.” She emphasized that the “988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7 by call, text, or chat.”

In another tweet on May 13, 2025, Brownley criticized Donald Trump’s plans concerning a luxury plane from Qatar. She asserted “Donald Trump plans to accept a $400 million luxury plane from the Qatari royal family, and he wants to keep it after leaving office.” Her post continued with strong language describing this action as unconstitutional and a threat to national security.

Further reflecting her commitment to community matters, on May 15, 2025, Brownley shared her participation in an event honoring local law enforcement officers. She wrote “Earlier this week, the Oxnard Police Department held its 26th Annual Police Memorial Ceremony to honor the memory of seven fallen officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.” The ceremony served as a reminder of their courage and dedication.

Julia Brownley’s career began in state politics before transitioning to federal service when she replaced David Dreier in Congress. With degrees from George Washington University and American University and residing currently in Westlake Village at age 70—her experiences continue shaping her legislative focus.
