U.S. Representative Lou Correa, who serves California’s 46th district, highlighted several issues and achievements in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) this week.
On February 25, Correa used his platform to acknowledge the accomplishments of a local high school sports team: “Today, I spoke on the House Floor to honor and recognize the @SantaAnaHS girls wrestling team. These young ladies have a lot to be proud of: 1.) Southern CIF, Empire League Champions, 2.) Eastern Division, and Division One Duel Champions 3.) five wrestlers made the State CIF”.
The following day, Correa addressed federal funding for an upcoming international sporting event. On February 26 he wrote: “Calling on @DHSgov to release the $625M that Congress approved for #WorldCup security funding. Even with this funding, host cities will likely cover up to $200M in additional costs, and the LA area is set to host 8 matches. With the games starting in less that 4 months, cities”.
Later that same day, Correa commented on being recognized by a national advocacy organization: “This week at the annual @LULAC National Legislative Conference and Unity Awards Gala, I was honored to receive their National Public Service Award. I am moved by the support, especially from an organization that strongly advocates for immigrants and civil rights. Today, LULAC is”.
Correa has represented California’s 46th district since replacing Loretta Sánchez in 2017. He previously served in both chambers of California’s state legislature as well as on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.[source] The congressman was born in East Los Angeles in 1958 and currently resides in Santa Ana.[source] He holds degrees from California State University, Fullerton (BA) and UCLA School of Law (JD).[source]
