Rep. Lou Correa, who represents California’s 46th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on his legislative activities and community engagement through a series of posts on social media.
On April 15, Correa highlighted a discussion with Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and Rep. Jack Bergman about clinical research into psychedelic therapies. He wrote: “Honored to have Dr. Nora Volkow, the National Institute on Drug Abuse Director, join me and my PATH Caucus Co-chair Rep. Jack Bergman to discuss clinical research on #psychedelic therapies and how these emerging therapies show strong results in treating addiction, depression, and https://t.co/TG7JA7pXni”.
The following day, April 16, Correa announced his support for legislation aimed at limiting unauthorized military operations in Iran. He stated: “Today, I voted YES on the Iran war powers legislation to cease U.S. Armed Forces’ operations in Iran that have not been authorized by Congress. https://t.co/EmT1IXIC0P”.
On April 17, Correa reported securing federal funding for the Fullerton Fire Department. He emphasized the importance of supporting first responders by saying: “I was proud to secure federal funding for the Fullerton Fire Department. Firefighters serve on the front lines of the emergencies that our communities face, which is why it is incredibly important that they have the resources they need to effectively do their jobs.”
Correa has represented California’s 46th District since 2017 after succeeding Loretta Sánchez. Before serving in Congress, he held positions in both chambers of California’s legislature as well as on the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Born in East Los Angeles in 1958 and currently residing in Santa Ana, Correa holds degrees from California State University, Fullerton (BA) and UCLA (JD).
