Rep. Lou Correa, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 46th district, has taken to social media to express his opposition to a legislative proposal he refers to as President Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill.”

On July 2, 2025, Correa announced his arrival in Washington with the intent of opposing the bill. He stated, “Just landed in Washington to do everything I can to stop President Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. I’ll keep you posted as things continue.”

Later that day, Correa reiterated his determination against the proposed legislation by declaring, “We’re not backing down, we’re not giving up!” This statement further emphasized his commitment to challenging the bill.

In a subsequent update on July 2, 2025, Correa shared insights into procedural delays concerning the bill’s progression. He remarked, “I took the redeye back to Washington so I could do my job and vote on the Big Ugly Bill. Now, Republicans are stalling the process. Why? Because they don’t have the votes. The fight isn’t over yet. Stay tuned.”

Correa has been a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Loretta Sánchez and has an extensive background in state politics and public service roles within California.
