Rep. Lou Correa, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 46th district, recently voiced his concerns through a series of tweets addressing immigration-related issues. Correa, who has been a member of Congress since 2017, shared his efforts to counter actions by the Trump Administration and to propose amendments aimed at protecting immigrant communities.

On April 30, 2025, Correa tweeted about a joint effort with colleagues to halt recent, allegedly illegal actions by the Trump Administration. This tweet emphasized the legal protections in place for taxpayers against information sharing with ICE.

On May 1, 2025, Correa highlighted his contributions during a judiciary hearing on immigration. He remarked, “Last night during a long Judiciary hearing on immigration I offered two amendments to protect our immigrant neighbors.” The amendments are aimed at safeguarding the rights of immigrants in the community.

He further detailed his first proposed amendment in another tweet on the same day. Correa wrote, “The first would stand by immigrant honorably discharged veterans are deported, that ICE consider their service to our country before deporting them.” This amendment underscores the need to consider the military service of immigrants before proceeding with deportations.

Correa’s work in Congress is built upon a long history of public service, having served in several legislative roles in California before his current tenure. His efforts focus on a wide range of issues, including advocating for immigrant rights.
