Representative Lou Correa, currently serving California’s 46th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared several thoughts and updates through his social media platform. His posts cover a range of topics from international religious leadership to local community engagement.
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Lou Correa expressed his congratulations to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, noting him as the first pope born in the United States. Correa stated, “I pray that Pope Leo XIV be guided by the legacy of Pope Francis’ strength, compassion, and acceptance.” He also conveyed hopes for peace and unity under Pope Leo XIV’s leadership.
Later that day, on May 8, 2025, Correa commented on a legislative matter regarding geographical nomenclature. He explained why he voted against renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Aligning with fellow Representative Jim Costa’s views, he described this proposal as inadequate and emphasized focusing efforts on more substantive legislative responsibilities rather than what he termed as “silly” name changes.
On May 9, 2025, Rep. Lou Correa attended an event hosted by the Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce. He shared his experience at their Vision Maker’s Breakfast via social media stating he was happy to stop by. During this visit, he provided updates from Washington D.C., interacted with small business owners on Main Street and addressed their queries.
Lou Correa has been representing California’s 46th District since replacing Loretta Sánchez in 2017. His career includes previous service in various state-level political roles including terms in both houses of California’s legislature and on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
