Rep. Lou Correa, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 46th district, has used social media to call for bipartisan cooperation in Washington to prevent a government shutdown, emphasizing the importance of fully funding health care.
On September 30, 2025, Correa posted: “I’m here in Washington, ready to work with Republicans to keep the government open. Our only ask? Keep health care fully funded. Let’s do our jobs.” The same day, he shared a similar message in Spanish: “Estoy aquí en Washington, listo para trabajar con los republicanos para mantener el gobierno abierto. ¿Nuestro único requisito? Mantenga la atención médica totalmente financiada. Déjanos hacer nuestro trabajo.”
In addition to his comments on legislative negotiations, Correa extended greetings for Yom Kippur on October 2, 2025: “G’mar chatima tova to all who observe Yom Kippur. May you all have an easy and meaningful fast.”
Correa has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Loretta Sánchez and represents constituents from Santa Ana and surrounding areas in California’s 46th district. He previously held roles in the California State Assembly, California Senate, and Orange County Board of Supervisors. Born in East Los Angeles in 1958 and currently residing in Santa Ana at age 65, Correa holds degrees from California State University, Fullerton (BA) and the University of California, Los Angeles (JD).
