ANAHEIM, CA – On May 5, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) joined officials at Anaheim Community Foundation to announce $1,000,000 in federal funding to expand youth access to mental health services in the City of Anaheim.

This funding is part of the nearly $30 million that Rep. Correa secured for community projects throughout California’s 46th congressional district in the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) omnibus appropriations bill, which President Biden signed into law last year. Rep. Correa worked in lockstep with community leaders to identify priorities for CA-46 constituents, and fought for them during the annual funding process.

“Our youth are suffering at the hands of a worsening mental health crisis, and they deserve our support at every level of government to weather it, and recover from it,” said Rep. Correa. “That’s why this funding is so crucial, and why I was proud to secure it for Anaheim Community Foundation and the ACT Anaheim Collaborative. With this money, we’ll be meeting our youth where they are—providing them the resources they so desperately need to persevere and recover from the mental health struggles they’re facing.

With the support of this funding, this project will support an expansion of programs and services to provide an additional 500 youth with high touch mental health support and an additional 5,000 youth with new mental health and wellness resources across the City. This funding will also support the ACT Anaheim Collaborative. (Accelerate Change Together), the multi-agency group that includes:

  • Anaheim Community Foundation
  • Anaheim Family YMCA
  • Big Brothers, Big Sisters Orange County
  • Boys and Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress
  • Girls, Inc.
  • Growth Opportunities through Athletics, Learning & Service (GOALS)
  • OC Human Relations
  • Orange County Congregation Community Organization (OCCCO)
  • Waymakers
  • Western Youth Services

“The Anaheim Community Foundation was honored to welcome Congressman Correa back to his hometown of Anaheim,” said Janis Heckel, Executive Director of the Anaheim Community Foundation (ACF). “We greatly appreciate his efforts to secure $1 million in funding to expand youth mental health services through the ACT (Accelerate Change Together) Anaheim collaborative.”
