Bernadette Boden-Albala has been selected to deliver the keynote lecture at the American Academy of Neurology’s Health Care Equity Symposium during its annual meeting. Boden-Albala, the director of the University of California, Irvine Program in Public Health, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to address disparities in neurologic care and advocate for health equity. She emphasized the importance of community-based research in addressing neurological disease disparities and ensuring equitable access to care for all individuals. The symposium will take place on April 15 as part of the AAN's Annual Meeting at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, where neurology professionals from around the world will gather to share knowledge and connect.
Boden-Albala stated, "It is an honor to be provided with this valuable platform to highlight the essential role of community-based research in addressing stroke and other neurological disease disparities. I look forward to sharing successful initiatives that actively involve the community in all aspects of the process. These culturally sensitive interventions leverage trusted local facilitators and utilize social networks that address inequalities and help ensure equitable access to care for all, regardless of background or circumstance."
