Julia Brownley, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California's 26th district, has recently shared several statements on social media highlighting her concerns regarding national defense communications, public health funding cuts, and commemorating Vietnam War veterans.

On March 26, 2025, Brownley referenced comments made by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth regarding the dissemination of military plans. She stated that "Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed, 'nobody was texting war plans'." However, she noted that Hegseth had been “sending classified launch times in an unsecured, commercial messaging app” shortly before military actions commenced.

Brownley expressed further alarm on March 27, 2025, in a post regarding the Trump Administration’s reduction in public health funding. She wrote, "The Trump Administration recklessly slashed over $12 billion from public health programs." She highlighted cuts affecting infectious disease tracking, mental health expansion, and addiction treatment services. Additionally, she raised the issue of proposed job reductions, asserting that the administration sought to remove 20,000 positions at the Department of Health & Human Services.

Financial and personnel reductions aside, Brownley took the time on March 29, 2025, to honor Vietnam War veterans. Through her post, she commemorated National Vietnam War Veterans Day, stating, "we honor the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who served in uniform during one of our nation's most difficult chapters." Brownley emphasized the importance of remembrance by acknowledging the over 58,000 individuals who sacrificed their lives, including 106 specific individuals she honored.
