WASHINGTON, D.C. — On May 24, Representative Lou Correa (CA-46) announced that he has been tapped by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) to serve on the newly established Task Force on Agriculture and Nutrition. The task force will lay the groundwork for House Democrats’ priorities in the upcoming Farm Bill reauthorization.
“In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, essential programs that address food insecurity among children and older Americans like SNAP, WIC and Meals on Wheels are more important than ever,” said Rep. Correa. “From crop insurance to commodities and trade, agriculture policy forms an important pillar of our economy. Alongside these vital programs, we must ensure farmers and families in California and across the country have the resources needed to thrive in the 21st century.”
Correa will serve on the task force alongside Chair Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), Representatives Jim McGovern (D-Mass.), Chellie Pingree (D-Maine), Mark Pocan (D-Wisc.), Sharice Davids (D-Kan.), Josh Harder (D-Calif.), Jahana Hayes (D-Conn.), and Kim Schrier (D-Wash.).
