On February 4, 2025, Brownley addressed what she described as particularly alarming actions by the Trump administration. She noted that "There has been no shortage of egregious and outright dangerous actions from the Trump administration, but one stands out as especially alarming. Elon Musk – an unelected, unvetted, and unaccountable extremist – has now gained access to the U.S. Treasury's data and payment system." Her statement underscores concerns about national security implications stemming from Musk's involvement in governmental affairs.

A few days later on February 7, 2025, Brownley turned her attention to veterans' healthcare in light of President Trump's policies. She stated that "Over 9 million veterans rely on the VA for care, and President Trump's directive to end all diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives jeopardizes the health and well-being of these veterans."
